THE POET TREE

"Poetry is the music of the soul, and, above all, of great and feeling souls," Voltaire

A Silver Teardrop

Dangling off the edge as if weeping,
Lonely for its mate, rests one silver
Teardrop earring – the edge being
A bone-china saucer minus its cup
Another solitary that should be part
Of a couple; as if to complete the
Collection of lost singles, a pair of
Sunglasses minus a lens, stares at
Nothing.
